Richmond Riverside - England

Post by fredpop » Mon Jul 05, 2010 7:47 am

I first posted an HR image here in February '07. One comment was to the effect 'what would it look like with dynamic lighting?'

At last I've got round to re-shooting the scene in June's early evening sunshine.

looks better than the orginal version... nice colour and the HDR is well done. Viewpoint is also slightly better I think.

How many shots are being stitched to create this?

It's a single image but exposure bracketed. I haven't attempted shooting a stitched HDR series yet.

HDR was necessary to retain detail in the brilliantly lit buildings and the deep foreground shadows. The mid exposed image has blown highlights and the shadows have dropped out of the bottom.

Thanks for your reply clippo.

Thanks Terry.

My monitor is calibrated and, no doubt, yours also!

When I took the shot there was a rare cloudless sky. After a few days I realised the image needed some clouds so I shot a cloudscape (matching time of day & camera direction) and dropped it in with Photoshop.

Good to see another appreciation three years after I uploaded the image. I'd forgotten it's here. It remains my best ever picture and hangs on my living room wall.
